Chasing the Pink Cloud

When the addictive drinking stops, the “pink cloud” often appears. The “pink cloud” or “pink clouding” is that euphoric feeling of confidence, extreme happiness, optimistic outlook, or calm mindset at the beginning of the recovery journey. It can last for days, weeks, or months. It can feel absolutely amazing! However, just as clouds in the sky do, it also dissipates.

So how can we extend or build upon this experience?

  1. Document your pink cloud experience to revisit these highlights during your rough days. Write your feelings down on paper and have them in front of you!
  2. Create a shortlist of realistic and attainable goals to achieve. These daily goals could include walks, 5-minute meditation sessions, positive self-talks, etc. Once you accomplish one, you may feel motivated to continue to complete more. Cross them off your list, after each one, to show yourself your achievements!
  3. Consider reaching out for help to address your upcoming challenges. This includes therapists, counselors, coaches, and others. You can contact us and we can make this happen for you very easily. You don’t need added stress.
  4. Connect with a supportive community to maintain healthy habits (in-person or online). There are many of us who have been in your shoes. We get it. Again, we are here to help. As always, we are here to support you in reaching that pink cloud stage and beyond: 1-800-530-3100.
